textbooks

Hi, I'm a newbie and am wondering where folks are ordering texts from. I used the search function and did not have a lot of luck. Can someone direct me?

Aren’t textbooks available on campus? You can also find textbooks on Amazon.

half.com, Amazon, Amazon marketplace, ebay, abe, alibris, google, etc. Start by googling the ISBN. I always look for like new, new books with no highlighting or writing. Look at seller ratings. Remember that books are usually shipped media mail which can take up to 2 weeks. Don’t wait til the last minute.

Thanks for the info!

My boarder is given books by the school. But my student at a day school has to purchase books. We always use Amazon and with great success.

My school gives us the link to its classbook.com profile. I would order from amazon though, for cheaper prices.

They’re so expensive :(

I just ordered my son’s books on amazon.com, and figure I saved about $150. The school directs you to Follett for ordering, but it was very expensive. (Although the link has everything figured out based on your child’s schedule…which is very convenient.)
Renting is an option, too, but I was able to buy the books - either new or used in “very good” condition - for about the same price.
Doing the comparison shopping was a bit cumbersome, but worth it for the savings…which I will use to purchase calculator, dorm items, etc. :)
