How can I buy them at the cheapest price?

Also, for all you current econ majors, what textbook do you use for each econ class?

This semester, 51 used Economics by William Baumol. 55 uses a not-yet-published book by a Duke prof. Unless someone sells their's used, you will have to buy it through Kinko's.

As for the cheapest price, I would look on Amazon or half.com.

If you want the cheapest textbooks, come to China! Some American publishers (Thomson, Pearson...) publish American textbooks in China "for sale and distribution in the People's Republic of China exclusively". Those books are very cheap. Since it doesn't say "for use in China only", I guess it would be okey to use them at Duke. But I am not sure if it will be legal to sell them as used books after I finish the courses.

I would buy them through students or online. Don't worry about getting textbooks until you get to campus this fall.

You should try amazon.com and buy used books. Sometimes you can buy books in adequate condition for half the used book price. Sometimes they even give u free shipping. Seriously though dont worry about books until you get to durham.

I definitely agree with the above posts. These textbooks are humongous, and the added price of shipping them or checking overweight luggage on the plane to bring it to Durham just isn't worth the immediate savings. I remember trying to take a Neuroscience text to Boston one summer because I already owned it and didn't want to buy another one. The added price for my luggage was $50 on a $120. It was being sold used in the bookstore on campus for $60. Not much of a savings at all!

I think amazon or wherever is great once you're in Durham.
