How exact are we supposed to be when buying textbooks.

I have to buy the book Teachers, Schools, and Society. It says 1st edition.

On Amazon there is a Florida version should I not get that one if it doesnt specify and does it matter what edition the book is?

Also, on my precalculus textbook I can find the book but it says the publisher is different. The one online is Prentice Hall not Pearson Publish. Does this make a huge difference?

Check the ISBNs. Also, I'm sure there's the school store you can buy from?

Be sure to get the editions as stated "My Textbooks" on ISIS for your schedule. For some courses, you may be able to get another edition, you'd have to check with your professor if it's okay. But to be safe, I would get exactly the edition that is required.

Yeah there is but I think they are cheaper online. That and it gives you the option to pre-order online through the book store and none of the books I need are avaliable.

What about if the author and title of the book is the same but from a different publisher. I cant find the Precalculus textbook from the Pearson publishing company. Only Prentice Hall.

I think I'm a little confused. When you click on "My Textbooks" on ISIS for your schedule, does it show the list of books you need? If so, copy the ISBN number into Amazon or half.com or whatever and the required book should come up so that you can buy it cheaper. If the books doesn't come up, it's probably because the ISBN is for a special package that isn't offered online. In that case, just copy and paste the title/author of the book and read the details of the webpage, making sure it is the correct edition.

If nothing comes up on the "My Textbooks" screen, then your professors have not sent the text info yet, so I would wait until that comes up. I would make sure it's from the same publisher too, what is exactly the book required for the precalc course? Can you copy and paste the book info from ISIS if you can and I'll try to look it up for you.

It does list my textbooks, what I was talking about was the button that is on the bottom of that page that says ADVANCE ORDER YOUR TEXTBOOKS FROM THE UF BOOKSTORE. I clicked that and they said they didnt have any of the books I needed.

The book title is Precalculus.
The author is Sullivan, publisher Pearson publish, and the ISBN # is 0536919240

I cant find the book with the same ISBN number or publisher.

Thanks for your help!

Don't worry about the 'advance order from uf bookstore.' They won't ship books to you, that just means they will be ready from you to pick up at the bookstore. It's not necessary, your books will be at the bookstore, precalc will not be sold out. The book should have an alligator on the front, I found a seller on the swamp board, but I would just wait until you come to UF to buy the book. Here it is, scroll down a bit for MAC1147.

The reason you were having difficulty is because the book is a UF custom edition that you probably will only find in Gainesville bookstores. So don't worry about it until you arrive at UF.

Oh okay. Thanks so much, that explains it all.
