What if the textbooks for our summer classes haven't been posted yet? Do students usually purchase their books from the UF bookstore? What are other ways of purchasing textbooks?
Thanks!

If they haven't release it then you can email them and ask or you will find out on the first day of class.

Other ways:

Local stores: Orange and Blue, Gator Textbooks, Florida Book Store, etc.

www.half.com (my preference)

and other websites

Are the textbooks sold at the UF bookstore more expensive than those sold at local stores?

^^ Usually.

If they tell you the first day of class though you really cant use half.com though can you? Maybe I will just email them and see because I only had three of my classes post what textbook I will need.

You should try to email them before friday. Summer A ends friday, many professors ignore their emails on weekends and breaks. Is there an email you cant find?

I emailed one of my professors already but I actually couldn't find my other professor's email. His name is Hale,Aaron Zachariah, he isn't listed in the department's faculty.

If you can't contact your professor, just wait until the first day of class where the textbook required will be indicated on the syllabus.

prisz25: He may be just a lecturer or a PHd student or postdoc. Here is his email if you want to contact him: ahale@ufl.edu/email. Seems he is a grad student.

Orange and Blue, Florida Bookstore and Gator Textbooks are really good local bookstores. I never buy from the BookStore on campus. It's a bit more expensive.

If you have 100% Bright Futures, with $300 a semester for books, it's easier to buy your books at the UF bookstore. They have all of the BF students on record, and you don't pay for your books (up to $300).

At the off-campus bookstore on University Ave., we had to pay for the textbook that day, and fill out a form for reimbursement from Bright Futures. The reason we went to the bookstore off-campus, is because the professor for that course didn't order her textbook to be stocked by the UF bookstore. My son was instructed to buy the book at the bookstore on University Ave. (Actually, I think I remember that we had already spent the $300 BF book money at the UF bookstore, and we never bothered to fill out the form at the other bookstore.)

One of his professors wrote his own book, and had it spiral-bound at Kinko's or QuikCopy on Archer Road. We drove down there and bought the book, about 30 pages of xerox-copied notes, for $35.00.

You should also check ratemyprofessor to see what students say about the textbook. I have had classes in which the teacher listed a textbook but never used it, since their test were based on their own notes.

I'd stay away from the on campus bookstore if you can. They'll send you the $300 check for books regardless.
