Textbooks

I have never personally used them in my classes, but at a professional development session several years back, I think the session leader said they are tuned to a frequency so the receiver can pick up the data. I think it is then sent to the instructor’s computer/teaching station. If that’s still the case, you may need one for each class that indicates them. My understanding is that they are fairly inexpensive.

eh $50 used per clicker…and are “required” for my chem and psych.

If it’s the same type of clicker (check that) then you only need one. You’ll register the serial code on your clicker and your name online at the beginning of the semester, and from that point on your professor can connect the two.

I had two different kinds for psych and chem. Stevenson has one system while Wilson has another. At least that’s how it was when I was there. Hopefully it’s changed for everyone’s sake.

You can use one clicker for every class, and for semesters to come so don’t lose them or sell them back.

It’s annoying that the bookstore does not give isbn’s but thers ways to figure out if you have the right book. As long as you know the title of the book, the author, the edition, and the front cover it is pretty easy to figure out what book you need. I guess you could still mess up, but its pretty guarenteed that you found the right one. I would definitely suggest to start putting orders for online books about now. I waited until the beginning of the semester once to order an accounting book and it was a huge hassle waiting since assignments were due. Also, if you call the teacher (or email them) I bet they would give you the ISBNs if want to be 100% sure you are ordering the right books. Buying textbooks online can probably save you well over 50% so I really suggest doing this!!

My biggest problem fresh year was the spanish bundle. I ended up buying it from the bookstore for over $200 (ughhhh). I’m not really sure the way around this one because there are a lot of components to the bundle including a workbook that you write in and have to hand in the pages (for some teachers/sections at least). Maybe if you found a student who took it before, maybe onthis borad, who can tell you exactly whats in the bundle so you can go out and find them. You should definitely be able to get the calc books online.
