how soon do we buy our textbooks? do we buy them before or after welcome week? Is there any preference?

Buy them before class starts, of course. Probably a week or so in advance if you are buying them online.

Honestly I think you’d be fine buying them during Welcome Week. Before the start of Freshman year I ordered mine online. However, a few books I needed weren’t listed yet online.

The bookstores on campus are so crowded and the lines get so long. I have purchased so many texts because they were required (for the university to make more money), but never used in class and many I never opened. Since you don’t lug the texts to class, but use it as a reference, you can usually find someone willing to lend you the text. Some of my profs even photocopied the text for the first part of the semester because they understood many students didn’t get their books right away. And often the bookstores run out of stock and are slow to purchase new ones. The bookstore is a great way for the schools to make money, but they don’t care about students one bit.

thanks. do you guys know any good bookstores that could save a lot of money?
