Textbooks!!

okay so i checked both amazon and the calstore, and it looks like i'm getting better deals on the books at the cal store, which is unfortunate because even the calstore books are ridiculously expensive. does anyone have any tips on getting books much cheaper/does anyone have any of the books required for ugba (business essentials package university of california by ebert), statistics (Statistics by freedman), or history (SE Asia in the Age of Commerce V1 and V2 by Anthony Reid, Cambridge History of SE Asia by Nicholas Tarling, Record of Cambodia by Daguan, Strange Parallels: Southeast Asia in a Global Context. c. 800-1830 by Victor Lieberman)?

The department just updated to 2011 editions - brand new texts - meaning you won’t have much of a used market to buy them in or many options. Book costs do run up quite a bit in a typical semester, I am sorry to say.

UGBA likes to rake in money by putting out a new edition every year, so you’re kinda stuck on that one. You may be in luck on Stats and History, though - those are popular courses, so lots of people could have a used one for you. Check Half.com and CraigsList (and ComeGetUsed.com, which I believe was started by a Cal student) for them!

im also in the hist 111a class this semester and i managed to find the cambridge history of s.east asia book online for free!! it’s in pdf format. lemme know if u want the link
