TFA Houston Summer Institute 2012

Hey guys! Thought I'd start a thread so that all of us Teach for America folks who will be at the Houston Institute this summer can get to know one another!

What a great idea! I’m a 4DL acceptance for San Antonio and was SO excited to see so many Texas acceptances in the forum when I checked today! I guess it just goes to show how our collective corps will be the best. :)

Are you from Texas? I’ll be relocating from New England and am pretty excited for the transition!

Hey guys (: I’ll be coming from Los Angeles. I have to be honest–I got accepted as a Houston CM, and it really surprised me. Even though Houston was on my pref list, I never thought that’s where I’d end up… BUT I’m quickly warming up to the idea!

I’m going to Rio Grande valley.

Hey guys! Well first of all, my name is Tori. I’ll be teaching HS science in San Antonio (very excited!)

I’m moving from the Research Triangle region of North Carolina (Chapel Hill, specifically), which I will miss dearly, but I’m ready for this new adventure!

Hello everyone! I will be teaching middle school in Houston. I’ll be moving from Illinois. Houston was also on my pref list but I’m pretty sure we will do fine in Texas.

Hey guys, did you receive any information about a Facebook group for your particular region? One of my friends, who’s NYC 2012, says that his region has a very helpful group, but I can’t find any information about a Houston one.

oh nice! i love it!!! whats up everyone. I was placed in San Antonio but now I feel like Houston would be a better fit lol.

for those of you accepted to the Houston corps do you know what the starting salary is? for SA it is a flat 43,000 as stated in the SA guide.

@rustyhalos: I was curious and searched for “Teach for America Corps 2012” on FB. I found a group almost for any institute. All the groups are closed groups, I asked to join the group… See you over there!

@carlinchi thanks! See you on FB (:
