Yeah, I'm writing thank you letters to the professors who really helped me out over my two years at my cc. I'm just overwhelmed with gratitude for without them, I would have not been where I am today. Is anyone else doing something similar? Also, what tone should I strive for? In the three letters I wrote thus far, I feel like I'm being too sappy. Any thoughts?

I did a similar thing with the professors who actually took the time to email me my grades. I emailed them back thanking them with just a quick note. I didn't actually write a formal letter. It's always good to be nice

i am sending a ucla postcard to all the professors i like that helped me .

ahh thats sweet guys. yeah, i really feel i need to this. I mean they are my ****ing roots. You can't go around forgeting where you came from...

I love my humble begginings.

You guys are great.

MaddenBus, appreciating that they took the time is a very sweet thing. Too many people take things like that for granted.

Malishka, your profs will love the UCLA post card. Seeing that you have achieved your goal and appreciate their part in it will make their day. I guarantee it.

CF, if you speak from the heart, in your natural voice, you can't go wrong. To tell you the truth, what you've said right here in post #4 - leaving out maybe one word ;) - is beautiful: "they are my roots... You can't go around forgetting where you came from. I love my humble beginnings."

i was thinking the same, even though i was not 2 thrilled with the results....what u guys think?

I'll regret it if I'm not able to thank some of my professors in person. Like CF said, don't forget where you came from and who gave you a chance when you were down and out. Sometimes teachers at CC forget why they go to work everyday, but a simple 'thank you' can go a long way in reminding them.

i guess, my tip would be to tell them about how much they affected you. aside from the fact that you've been given a second chance, and a new beginning. talk about how their specific role in your life has transformed you into the person you are today...take the inspiration they have had on you and put it on paper. make it personal...sounds like a great idea...gotta respect your roots/beginnings and not turn your back on ur CC! i hate people who do that.

I bought a few professors boxes of See's Candies as a thank you gift while for other professors I gave them a thank you card. Any form of gratitude is always welcome in my opinion.
