Thank you note from... AO?

Hey guys,

I have a question that is bugging me ever since my Hogwarts interview. I flew a long way to do the interview and it was great, I had a great time. A day after I got home, I received a postcard from my interviewer, saying thank you for interviewing on-campus. The note was very personalized and was hand written. (It mentioned the highlights of my interview.) Do all interviewers do this for students who came a long way to do interviews?

My interviewer was an AO for Hogwarts for Junior and Senior admissions which has nothing to do with me though, so it can't have that much of an impact of my final decision?

Oh, and, GOOD LUCK :))

This varies so much. We are also long distance and have had follow up that varies from the sincerely warm and fuzzy to the saccharin warm and fuzzy to the cold and impersonal. It has certainly helped us decide on “fit.”

It really depends on the school. Some schools always have their AOs write a thank you note to the applicant after the interview and other schools don’t. Try not to take it as a positive or negative sign. As hard as it is, I would just wait it out and see how everything unfolds next week. Good luck!

We had received a range of communications post-interview…from none to form letter to form letter with personal PS to full on hand-written communication. I was advised by current BS parents to NOT read anything into these missives.

I noticed that after the my best interviews the thank you letters were nicest and most sincere, but after one rather bad interview I didn’t get one at all, even though I sent my interviewer a note.

^ Same here

whaaaat?
oh no. i never got a thank you note. dang. i wrote all my admission officers emails within 24 hours of my interview though…dang.

@flash9k Did you get a thank you email back? Since I live overseas and the postal service is super slow (it took one of my schools 3 weeks to receive something I sent by priority mail and some things they didn’t get at all and I had to fax them) I decided just to send emails as well and I usually got a response back only be email (3/6 times).

I don’t really think that a thank you email is any worse than a thank you letter, the best, most sincere thank you letter I got was by email.

Kids, it doesn’t mean anything. I can tell you that last year there was no correlation between which schools accepted my son and the quantity and/or quality of the correspondence from the admissions office.

ditto neato–son got into a school with no thank you note sent from AO, and waitlisted at one with 2 notes and a card. Take it with a grain of salt–If I had to guess, I’d say that notes have more to do with the size of the school and/or admissions staff than any sign, positive or negative.
