Thank You Notes- Handwritten?

My D just finished several on-campus evaluative interviews with admissions staff at some liberal arts colleges. Are handwritten thank you notes the way to go? Or are admissions counselors fine with emails these days? Thanks.

Greatly appreciated. Your D will be remembered for it.

A hand-written note would stand out, since very few people will send hand-written notes. Also, make sure to send it on a timely basis, i.e., don’t wait.

Both options are fine. My D sent email thank you notes and that worked out well. She liked that the note would arrive the day of the interview.

My daughter has done all handwritten notes sent as soon as possible afterward. I don’t know if they’ll “give her an edge” but it’s just good manners, just like after a job interview.

For the four interviews I have done, I have sent an email the night of the interview (like a quick thank you note) and then sent a handwritten note after.

^^^ You have been raised well.

OMG don’t over do it… I am an alumni interviewer and I got an email and a card I would think you were trying too hard.

@bopper I haven’t ever had an alumni interview, and I wouldn’t send a card for those, but for on-campus interviews which I have done with admissions officers or senior fellows I’ve always sent both. It’s how my parents raised me I guess- the email is always a quick thank you and the note a personal touch that I’m not doing to “gain an edge” but just because I feel that it is really important to show gratitude when someone takes time out of their day for me. Just my opinion I guess.

IMO sending an email and a note is a bit of overkill. But everyone should do what they feel is appropriate.
