<p>Can thank you notes to interviewers be sent by email or is paper the only appropriate way?</p>
<p>Hmmm, I had eight interviews, and though I never really got around to ever thanking any of my interviewers, after every one I had the intention of mailing a letter.</p>
<p>E-mail is better than nothing, but I think that paper is more memorable. I don't think that most students bother to send thank-yous. It seems many don't have good home training. Consequently, any thank-you note will make a student stand out.</p>
<p>Handwritten is probably best if you can convince your applicant. In our experiences last year, S2s thank-yous looked like mirror images of the ones he received from the adcoms -- handwritten "bread & butter" notes on small notecards.</p>
