Are thank you notes appropriate to mail or email out after a college audition? Or are they seen as pushing too much?

my daughter sent than yous to even those colleges that she was rejected from and received very heartfelt (and suprised) responses.

I don't think it is ever wrong to send a sincere handwritten thank-you note to anyone for anything.

It's always a good idea to send a Thank You note. As in any job interview, it's should be second nature without delay. It would seem surprising that many students don't write down the names of the auditors before they leave the audition. My guess is that many students do send thank you notes and many do not. By sending a note it shows a sense of maturity, character and respect. Those are all excellent qualities colleges look for in prospective students.

good thing to know! i probably would have not done so assuming it was being too pushy etc. thanks for the advice!

I sent thank you's via email to all the auditors who auditioned me. I think it's a nice thing to do. It gave me another chance to emphasize how much I loved the school, etc. I got some early hints of acceptances from some who replied too! :)

My D did the same thing: sent handwritten thank you notes (not emails!) personally to those for whom she auditioned. And as Blueroses1 says above, the note gives you an opportunity to sincerely state what you like about the program, why you want to go there, etc.
