Thank you to everyone

I just want to thank everyone on the Cornell board. This is my first post, but I have been reading the responses of the fellow members for the last 4 or 5 months while I went through the transfer process at Cornell. This morning I found out that I have been accepted to Cornell to study Applied Economics and Management at the CALS school. This is truly a dream come true for a former high school drop out, so I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone for their help (whether you realized you were giving it or not). Thanks again, and best of luck to everyone still waiting to hear from Cornell!

way to go dude. that's pretty amazing to hear

Congrats! cornell is an amazing place because of people like you.

That is awesome. Congratulations!

Now that you are in, do you mind sharing any stats? Are your transferring from a 2-year or 4-year? Are you an NY resident?

CALS decisions have been slow... but it looks like they are finally coming out.

Again, congrats! AEM is a tough major to get in to!

You're a high school drop out?

So am I! I'm applying to the engineering college. I'm glad they're accepting drop outs! Gives me hope. :-) Congratulations, man!! (woman?)

Drop outs unite! lol

Oh, can you post your stats, btw?

Thanks again everyone, I cannot tell you how excited I am! My stats look something like this for those who asked:

Personal:
-Caucasian Male
-NY State Resident

High School:
-Obviously not much to talk about here since I am a drop out, but I had 2 completed years and some EC's (all sports).

College:
-NY State Community College (Monroe Community College)
-3.85 GPA
-4.0 in major related classes (Business and Economics)
-69 Credits by the end of this summer (58 of which are going to transfer to Cornell)
-Took some fairly challenging courses, but nothing too crazy.
-Member of Phi Theta Kappa

EC's:
-Phi Theta Kappa
-Work (usually full-time) as a bartender
-Nothing else really of note

Recommendation:
-I got a chance to read my recommendation and it was quite complementary, although I am sure they are all like that. It came from my economics professor who is one of the most highly regarded teachers at my community college.

Essay(s):
-I'll try to be modest here, but I think I really nailed the essays. It's funny because being a high school drop out was never something I was all that proud of (obviously). But it gave me a fantastic topic to write my essays on, and I think I did a phenomenal job on them as a result.

Thanks again to everyone, I cannot wait to join the Cornell family!

You sound like a truly amazing person. Congratulations and best of luck!

congratulations, that's quite the extraordinary accomplishment! You'll be comming to a fantastic university among the top few in the world.
