Hi all,
As the parent of a rising junior, I just wanted to thank the parents of seniors for being so generous in posting their experiences with admissions. Your stories have been educational, inspiring, and cautionary. (Man, are we going to be applying to safeties!) I feel so much better prepared to help my daughter select and apply to colleges, and to cope with both acceptances and rejections, than I did before finding this site a few months ago. It is heartening to see a group of cyber-strangers becoming such a supportive community. So, thank you, thank you, thank you.

I couldn't agree more! As the parent of a rising senior, the information here has been absolutely invaluable. Please, parents of graduating seniors, don't leave us when the kids leave for college. I need guidance!

hey Nester,

Here's wishing you all things good as you and your daughter head down this adventurous path full of strange twists and turns! I hope that at the end, she finds her very special rainbow with its own beautiful pot of gold! I wish I had started posting a bit earlier and asking some important questions. You are wise to begin early! Welcome to CC!! ~berurah

SplashMom~wishing your upcoming senior all of the best too!!! Good luck! ~b.

Nester and Splash - some of us (who, me? ) are too addicted to leave. But anyway, we continue to gain so much from the site ourselves. My S is my only, but I expect to be hear through the extra-long sheet discussion, the x-country travel discussion, the fun stuff in the cafe, etc. etc.

And to watch you jr parents be where we were when the time comes!

This is how befuddled I am in this whole process: Daughter is a current junior which I realize makes her a rising senior, not rising junior as I said initially.

Nester: just make sure she keeps rising :).

Nester - I, too, had no clue about this terminology of "rising" until reading on college websites last year. Wonder if that's one of the vocab words on the new SAT? :)

I joined here less than a month ago, my college selection experience being 30 years out of date. I have learned so much in the past month! I now feel prepared to help my daughter face the selection and application process in the fall. I just hope she's as excited as I am ;)

I started reading CC a year and a half ago when daughter was a sophomore. Now that I've read through two admissions seasons, I'm feelin g as old as dirt. After next year, I may take a breather (lurk) for 3 years til son is up at bat.

I've been reading CC for awhile but after 1st S went to college. CC was helpful with 2nd and 3rd S is even more challenging. I've learned lots on CC -- both re: college app process and parenting "tough" kiddos.
Thanks to all of you for your stories and suggestions.

Don't worry: we parents of first year freshmen probably mostly didn't plan on being here still a year later, but here we are! :D
