Thank You

My D got into Dartmouth today. I want to thank all of you for your support. CC has been invaluable during this process. I don't know how we would have done this without you. Every step of the way from SAT testing to deciding on schools, we relied on CC to give us lots of great advice.

Amen to that. Why spend thirty grand on a private counselor when you have CC?

Burlmom...I wrote you a note on the Dartmouth forum but again will just tell you how happy I am for your D and I remember you from earlier on in the process and I am glad it all turned out so positively for her! The way she found out was quite a hoot too.

Enjoy this moment.

Burlmom:

I'm so happy for you and your D! Enjoy the moment.

Congrats! to you and your D!

"Why spend thirty grand on a private counselor when you have CC?"

I was SHOCKED that private counselors charge so much! (The people at Ivy Success charge $22,500 for deluxe package.) For that kind of money, they pretty much have to promise success!

We did not use a counselor and I agree that there is SO much to be gained on the CC forums. But just for the record, the college counseling services at CC, do not cost nearly what was posted here. There are range of services. Even if you were to get the Senior Package, it is 3,000, not 30,000. Since we are posting on CC, I thought it might be fair to point that out.

I don't want to start another thread, or steal Burlmom's, but I also do want to say thank you. This forum is composed of some of the most knowledgeable and supportive folks - Sybbie, marite, jamimom, soozie, curmudgeon's wit, mini's passion, and IDad's app advice, and so many other Dads and Moms, and is a great resource for all the parents and kids - GOOD JOB. And Burlmom, hope to meet you unpacking boxes in Hanover next fall!

No intention to thread-hijack here, either, but likewise on the thank you. I appreciate all the information the parents and the enrolled students share with parents and students who are new to the process. For example, it's good to know that college counseling services (which may indeed be useful to individually apply some of the general advice we receive here) don't all come at the same price.

Congratulations to the class of '09 admittees and their parents. Best wishes for many happy years of learning.
