thanks, from berkeley engineering!

has anyone else received an email from George C. Johnson, Associate Dean for Special programs, that says how good Berkeley engineering is and how it is an exciting place to be...?

is it a likely email???

Yeah, I applied bioengineering. They make it clear that they have NOT made their decisions yet, they just want you to get a feel for the campus I presume.

I got the same email.

i'm a current student in CoE and i don't really feel like it's THAT exciting of a place to be..haha

i think those kind of emails are dumb.
what's the point of making you want to get a feel of the campus, and telling you "how it's an exciting place to be", if there is a possibility of rejection?

^^ er, to "hook" you early on, so that you'll attend if you do get accepted?

Well, I have to agree with cookiesgarden that the practice is a little cruel. Imagine how you'd feel if you became excited about getting a feel for Berkeley engineering because of that email...only to find out later that you didn't get in. Then it was all just one big cruel tease.

yeah, it's pretty pointless... it's not like we applied there with no clue about their engineering department.

^^ you'd be surprised how many do.
