I am itchy with annoyance right now. So are my friends who are in this class. Rather than helping us learn, our stupid honors geometry teacher spends more time and care on his tennis team. And when he is in the classroom... it's as if he does not teach. And when you ask for a little help, he literally ignores you! And he's a liar. He'll have you do things for extra credit, but he never adds it on to your average. Basically you've wasted your time. Because we are in Texas and have to take TAKS standardized testing, the teachers have to prepare us for it. He didn't really teach us anything, and yet he hands us this practice test that's unrealistically difficult (the real test was so easy and did not even relate to the practice test!). He says he'll record it as two quiz grades, but instead, he turns around and records it as a test grade (50% of average.) So now, I have a 77 for a test grade and an 83 as my average for this nine weeks. I am so frickin' ****ed. I usually make good grades in that class. Hopefully I can bring my grade up to a 90 in the next three weeks, but I doubt it. I'm sure you've had teachers like mine. Post your frustrations.

*I am by no means trying to be disrespectful. I'm just so angry that he doesn't even care to help or teach us.

I have teachers in art that dont count my extra credit all the time. i had the worst geo teacher, lowest high school grade to date, 90, she was horrible though. I got a 69 on one of her tests

Did she give you the opportunity to re-take it (well, not like that would count, because you were a point shy of passing with a 70)? Did you get to do extra credit?

a 70 is passing? Here isa a 60. It was 65, but they lowered it this year.

I know how you feel Righteous Vigilante as I am from Texas also. I agree that the public schools are too focused on the TAKS test. Thats why i'm in a private school and don't have to take TAKS.

Yeeah we need a 70 to pass. Of course we couldn't retake a test..the only thing she did was drop the lowest QUIZ...she had no clue how to teach and she PURPOSELY made the final too long for us to finish, she even said....she may have curved that..but w/e I got a 90 from her final avg., she I just took it and ran but she almost made me not want honors alg 2, which ended up being awesome

I'm sorry. I wish there was something i could do :(

dont worry though--alg 2 should be good--i learned more geometry in the one review day of geometry from our alg 2 teacher than i did throughout the entire semester of geo.

I can't wait until Algebra II. I hate geometry.

So, even if I did end up with a blasted 83, I would still end up with a 93 average for the year (provided that I am eligible to exempt the final exam because I have only been absent 5 times and still have an overall A average), and my unweighted cumulative GPA would drop down to a 98.5 (weighted: 103.5)

After considering that, I've decided that I'm not going to worry that much. Geometry sucks and I don't want to bother with it anymore. But I know this is incomparable to the studying you upperclassmen-APers have to do, so I wish you the best of luck.

Chemistry in grade 10...

The following words actually came out of my teacher's mouth:
"I hope you fail"

In my school, we take Algebra before Geometry. I'm going to be in 10th grade next year and that's when I'll take Geometry.

oh no righteous, geometry is definitely comparable to ap, it's actually harder than any ap so far with the exception of maybe ush

That means that your school must have a standard track of Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II/Trigonometry/Precalculus, and some senior math course, possibly AB Calculus.
And Geometry makes little sense: I can understand simple concepts of differential equations but still can make no sense of plane geometry proofs.

Yeah there are always some pricks like that. Luckily most of the teachers I've had in high school have been pretty reasonable and fair.

The taks test in Texas, is TAKSING families, students, and the schools. Teachers are stressed, students aren't learning other then how to pass this test. They then go off to college and suffer because they have no crtical thinking skills........................

I agree with you, prepparent. And Texas still has one of the highest drop-out rates in the nation, so really, is all of this helping? No. We're going to forget all this material anyhow, so why bother?

Here's how math goes at my school. You can however, take the curriculum being advanced by two years (you can take Algebra II as a freshman. I am not that hot, so I'm only a year ahead, taking geometry as a freshman).

9th Grade - Algebra I
10th Grade - Geometry or Honors Geometry
11th Grade - Algebra II or Honors Algebra II
12th Grade - Pre-AP Pre-calculus or just plain calculus.

However, if you're ahead, you take AP or regular Calculus AB or BC.

*Oh! So turns out that this teacher graded my test inaccurately. I really got a 91, not a 77! (So now I have a 92 in the class) I still do feel bad for my friends because no one was prepared for this at all. They just shoved it in our faces at the last minute, and as said before, the REAL TAKS was unbelievably easy. Well, for me it was.

Seems like the teacher there has no credibility...I would wonder how he got his degree if he was making those types of errors. I would like to see him do that on a tax form and suffer the consequences.

yeah ive had teachers maybe make a mistake by 1-2 pts. when they grade fast, but 14 pts seems just careless
