Thanks Wash U for waitlisting me, guess what, I DO NOT CARE!!!!

huh

"wasted a spot of life"

oh well, bumparoo :)

semp, i was wondering if you were ever accepted to HYPS? I say this because awhile ago you said Wash U waitlisted you because you were over qualified. I was wondering if you had proof of this by being accepted to HYPS or other ivies?

while I'm not going to do a stats dump and/or be a prestige whore and list all the schools I got in to. Let's just say that I got in to 3 schools which were ranked above washu and the top public university in the nation and a few other schools which I like, but arent ranked as high.

I have chosen to go to Duke.

And despite all that...you didn't actually get into washu...perhaps you simply don't have as much game as you'd like us to believe.

What a goober.

Actually...semp is prolly really cool in real life...and i'm being the real goober...but w/e...i just want this thread to die.

"semp is prolly really cool in real life"

thanks, I appreciate that. I think thats the first nice comment I've gotten on this board. But, then again, what can I expect with my comments.

Please note that all of my vitriolic remarks are not directed to the students who got in or to the faculty there. They are directed to the admissions office and the person who came up with this marketing juggernaut which acted on me as a psychological ploy to get me to apply.

"got you to apply"? Wash U's app is like one of the easiest to do. You probably didn't waste that much effort on it at all so why don't you give it a rest, semp. You don't see my pfrosh who got into duke, princeton, yale, and stanford complaining about being wait-listed at wash u because it's simply not worth caring about...

"it's simply not worth caring about"

eh, I'm a bored senior right now so its either this or....... write a vitriolic editorial describing my hs's effort to shut down the student production of batboy.

Why would your school try to shut down Batboy? I hate overprotective administrations.

lol, I don't really care about this acromonious exchange, but just for some substance to chew on, I was waitlisted at washu, accepted at stanford, yale, columbia, penn, duke, and u chicago....hmmm.....lol

This whole conversation is pathetic. WashU doesn't want people who wish they were at an Ivy, they want a freshman class that will be excited about going there. That's why they waitlist so many people who get into ivies, it's not because they're "overqualified." It's about the quality of life for the students, not prestige. Many other schools do the same thing.
And another thing, it's pointless to argue whether or not washU can be classified as "elite", although the statistics do speak for themselves. I applied there ED because I believed that it was the best school in the country for me. If you disagree, go somewhere else, and get the hell off my message board. And if you claim that you felt obligated to apply to washU because they mailed you too many letters, you are simply stupid.

mike123 I have been wondering about Semp's results too. I did a little research from his posts. According to his posts - 7 acceptances from 22 applications sent out. He applied to some very selective schools. Didn't look for all of the decisions but here are some I found in the 5 mins. this took:

WL - WashU and Swarth.
Accepts - Duke (where he is headed), Tulane, Brown, Berkley, UCSD and Wesleyan
Denied - Yale, Dart, Stanford, Harvard, Princeton, etc.

Very acceptable SAT - 1440

No editorialization just results.

wow....kinda funny. Good job coptermom

hmmmmmmmmm..........

holy crap, u applied to 22 places. thats a lot, like 1200 just in app fees?

eh, I was misplaced in my application philosophy, if I had to do it all over again I would have applied to only 10-15 schools

Wow, I was actually planning on only applying to five schools at the most, but when I got in ED to Wash U I ended up only applying to one other school.

"when I got in ED to Wash U I ended up only applying to one other school."

huh, wouldnt the ED commitment prevent you from doing that?

maybe sirwebber applied to 2 diff schools early, one ed one ea or something... anyways... how come u are not complaining about getting REJECTED from HYPSM?
