Thanksgiving Break - Bus to Logan

If the last class is over Monday the 19th at 4 PM - is that too late in the day to catch a bus to Logan for a flight out? Can bus tickets be purchased now?
How does it work if a bus seat can't be purchased ahead of time? Are there plenty of seats and extra busses?
Will people still be on campus on Tuesday? What is the typical time for a bus trip to Logan on a holiday week during rush hour?

Thx!

Is the Dartmouth mini-coach a good way to travel from campus to Logan?

There is a 4:30 bus arrives at Logan @ 7:50. The bus stops in front of the Hanover Inn. I know that the fare used to be $55 round trip (at least that is what it was in the spring) now the website says call for fares. They pay for tickets on the bus (or when it stops in WRJ)

Attaching the vermont transit schedule;

Hope this helps. If I know Chicky, I will be paying through the nose because she will book a flight at the last minute :)

Almost everyone on the Dartmouth Coach buys their ticket during the bus' first stop in White River Junction. Don't worry about buying one ahead of time.

Also, ask your friends from far away if they'd like to come spend Thanksgiving break with you! Spending Thanksgiving at Dartmouth is no fun. :(

omg i finally figured out how to make legit smileys. sweeeeet. :)

^haha congratulations BigGreenJen :D :) ;) :o :confused: :mad:

Thanks for the help. Well -we waited too long to book the flights at Thanksgiving. Prices are much higher than a month ago. I had thought as long as I did it month ahead of time - there wouldn't be a big difference. Looks like leaving at night now is out of the question because the later night flights we needed were filled. Do they run extra buses at Thanksgiving? Does everyone who wants to travel make it on the bus?

My kid is the Queen of the Procrastinators when it comes to travel (where did I go wrong) and she has never had a problem with the bus at thanksgiving, christmas and end of term travel. Keep in mind that there are upper classmen who drive and some students catch rides with friends, and students leave at different times throught our the day(s) before thanksgiving.

I know that there are buses that run from Hanover to NYC that are run by the student association. The bus stops at the Dartmouth club in midtown, pretty centrally located if you need to get the metro north to CT a couple of blocks away, or LIRR, or the path to NJ/NJ transit across town. Seats are on a first come first served basis. They bilitz out information to get a feel for how many buses they need. I remember Chicky's freshman year the bus was about $50 r/t and they sold out really fast.

Sybbie: "Dartmouth Club in midtown"?? Isn't that the Yale Club, on Vanderbilt??

One in the same as the Dartmouth Club is based in the Yale Club (go figure)

Glad to hear there are plenty of seats on the bus at Thanksgiving! :)
Huge relief - as we only gave 2 hours from the time the early, early, early morning bus is supposed to arrive at Logan and the plane takes off. It will be his first time at Logan - and it will probably be crazy busy - although their is a new feature at TSA - where you say what airport you are traveling to - and how long it takes to wait in line. Logan's estimate was listed as less than 6 minutes - which seems hard to believe.
