Hi -- an OOS mom trying to book flights home. Questions:

Does Thanksgiving break start at any specific time on Wednesday, or do classes run as usual through Wednesday? Flights are almost sold out already to return on Sunday via Southwest to Chicago (the cheapest option).

Final exam schedule -- there is a schedule posted on the UT site, but there is a caveat that some classes hold universal exam time for ALL sections -- wondering if Calc 408C is one of those classes. Otherwise, is that posting reasonably accurate?

Thanks! Went to orientation the week of June 13 and finally saw Austin and UT -- I totally get why my son fell in love with both.

Hi there! First off, welcome to the Longhorn Family!

Thanksgiving “Break” begins Thanksgiving Day so Wednesday will be a normal class day. However, many professors will either cancel class on Wednesday or use it as a review day. If your son has just one class in the afternoon, I’d go ahead and plan for him to skip it.

For the finals, they should stick to the posted schedule. Occasionally, however, the professor will choose to combine all of the sessions for the final but as far as I’m aware there’s not much of a way to tell this far ahead. One thing you can try is to look at the professor’s syllabus from past semesters. That can be done here [Syllabi and CVs](Access Syllabi and CVs). There’s a chance that the professor will administer the exam on the last day of class as opposed to during finals week.
