Thanksgiving Break for East Coasters

We live on the East Coast. Thanksgiving recess begins Thursday November 26th, not exactly sure when it ends, but assume school resumes the following Monday. What days do most Easterners fly back home and return to campus. If they stay on campus rather than coming home, are there others who stay on campus as well? Just trying to figure out what are the options.

Thank you.

D '09 spent her Thanksgivings in California since we have family out there. Her HS classmates returned for at least the first Thanksgiving; some kids take the whole week off. We couldn’t see her making the trip only to come back three weeks later for winter break.

There are lots of students on campus, so the kids are alone. Many faculty and staff memberes invite students to their homes for the holiday as well.

We pay the big bucks to fly D home from OSU after class on Wednesday and back early evening Sunday night.

Would be cheaper for her to fly on T-day but she’s miss ther party at Nana’s :-)

Our son stayed in Claremont and a friend from home flew out to spend a few days with him. (She had a longer break)There were a few kids in the dorms. One of the deans invited students to her home for the T-Day meal. Son was invited to the home of a local teammate but would have joined the group at the dean’s house if he had not received a local invitation. One of the on-campus dining halls was open. I think at Harvey Mudd. We just felt it was too short of a break to make the flight. We are in the Midwest and not near an airport that has direct flights to Ontario.

I just realized that I meant to say “so the kids are not alone.” Oops!
