Thanksgiving holidays

Looking at airline tix for the holidays. On the Oberlin academic calendar it appears classes are as scheduled on Wednesday. So, I was wondering if her class that is scheduled for 4 pm Wednesday is still on. That will make for a difficult airline ticket. SHe is going to ask but she doesn't have that class on Fridays. Anybody have any history with holiday schedules?

in past years, we’ve simply arranged for flights on Wednesday, and if classes were not cancelled, they were missed. Some classes are cancelled and some not (so students should arrange to borrow someone’s notes, etc.). It is particularly tough for students flying to the coasts; I wish they’d cancel classes on that Wednesday.

My Frosh kid says Wednesday PM classes are on as usual

best guess is for your kid to check with the prof

ah, school :-)

That’s weird – I’ve always heard that Thanksgiving break officially starts at noon on Wednesday, but looking at the calendar I see that’s not actually listed. I’ve never had a course that day that wasn’t cancelled, and campus is usually dead by Wednesday afternoon, so I’d be surprised if your daughter’s 4 PM class is still on. What’s on the syllabus for that day?

Just talked to her and she is nonchalant as usual. “Just book what you want to mom, it’s OK.” I clarified her schedule. She has a 2:30 class which gets out at 3:30 so the earliest she could be at the airport is 4 pm. She has a car. The flight home is at 4:50 so I think that will work. It’s the only nonstop flight so I’ll just let her work it out if she needs to leave a few minutes early. She can print out her boarding pass ahead of time and sprint for her car. She didn’t tell me which class but by process of elimination, I’m guessing piano. (she’s in the con)
