Thansgiving Meal on Thanksgiving Day

I need help from Junior/Senior or CS-Parents for Thanksgiving meal. My S2 is OOS-Sorph and he don't believe he will be lucky enough to get invited to a local family on Thanksgiving. His roommate also OOS. Last year, the on campus food service all close. Local Restaurants also all close at night. In the morning IHOP was opened. So, many of the OOS students end up having junk food or cup of noodle or left over from IHOP for dinner. I know many of this students cannot afford to fly home for the short break which is also right before final. This year, I will like to get entire thanksgiving meal for a few student from the local Grocery store or restraurant. Do any CS store sell entire meal? The turkey or ham has to be already cut, since the student in dorm probably do not have knives for the carving. Do any of this store deliver the meal before closing for the night? If any of you have information, can you post the link?

We miss our S2 for thanksgiving and do not wish he has the same experience again like last year.

Thanks!
Regards, Mom of Aggie

Hi, Check out H-E-B ( www.heb.com) . 1900 Texas Ave. S, College Station, Texas 77840. Looks fairly close to campus and they sell Thanksgiving meals already prepared. 979-693-3275. On their website, click on Mealtime, HEB Food,Celebrations, Thanksgiving, then Holiday Feast, then Quick and Easy. Hope this helps. Kroger may have something as well. Good luck! That’s nice that you are looking for options for your son.

Alot of grocery stores are open for part of the day on Thanksgiving. Just give them a call and find out their store hours.

This year the A&M/UT football game is at A&M on Thanksgiving Evening so there will be a lot of kids still on campus on Thanksgiving Day so don’t know if on campus food services will be open this year because of that. Great idea you have!

most grocery stores have a thanksgiving meal to buy. i don’t know if the meat comes carved. i don’t think so.

maybe boston market has one as well. idk if they have a boston market though. i think luby’s usually has thanksgiving meals, too.

The kids would probably need to find a cheap carving knife somewhere (not hard to do like at a Dollar Tree) or ask the grocery store to cut it up (if they are willing to do that) if they get a meal from a grocery store.

Thank you all. Sermom- Thanks for the link to HEB.com, I found the entire meal and will call the store directly for ordering and other question. Much appreciated.

A lot of us are not going home because of the game. Maybe he can hook up with some off campus friends in their apts.?

I see Sbisa will be serving a Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving Day - turkey and all the good stuff.
Does anyone know of any restaurants that will actually be open on Thanksgiving Day in College Station?

FYI, I tried online, and cannot find any local restaurant opening hours for Thanksgiving Day. S2 do not know either. So, I take the initiative and written to the U-dining service, Below is their response. Have a safe and thankful holiday.

Howdy,

Thank you for your interest in our Thanksgiving Day meal at Sbisa.

Your son does not need a reservation to dine at Sbisa; we are encouraging larger groups to make a reservation so we can accommodate them all at one table. We will have to-go containers so your son can charge two meals and take one with him for later that evening.

Please let me know if you have any other questions and we look forward to seeing your son on Thursday.

The Sbisa dinner sounds good. The chamber of commerce has a list of restaurants opened on Thanksgiving day that if you want other suggestions you could call them. I know TGIFridays, Lubys and Golden Corral are open that day. There’s also a Steak House in the Hilton open.
