bump…ehhhh

Stanford SCEA deadline is coming up! ahhh

anyway, so I got my SAT II’s back… I’m FINALLY done standardized testing (what a relief). So here’s what I got:

Math II: 800
U.S. History: 720

And I had a Bio E 740 in June.

So I know a lot of people have said that I should nail the SAT II’s in order to compensate for a weaker SAT and mediocre ACT at a school like Stanford. How will these scores affect my chances? =

Also, I got my two teacher recommendations:

One was very average; it was from my Intern/Mentor teacher, who manages an in school internship related program, and I’ve only had her for 6 months, part of which was over summer break (I emailed Stanford and they said it was okay to use her rec). The rec itself listed me in the Top 5% for all checkmarks except one in Top 10%. The letter basically restated my extracurriculars and said I was personable and creative.

The other recommendation I had was from my Biology teacher. I plan to major in biology (2 essays of mine are on biology, including my main which talks about insects) and she wrote extremely nice things about me. She’s a great teacher and I loved the class. I got Top 5% in mostly everything except Class Discussion, Respect by Faculty, and Integrity, which were marked “Best in Career”. Her letter was even better; it explained how I was often a leader in class discussions and labs, how I am high achieving and able to face any difficulties, and how I can balance activities without sacrificing academics.

I’m still waiting on one teacher recommendation, which won’t be used for Stanford so there’s no rush. I expect it to be even better than my biology teacher’s…we’ll see. =

So I’m about ready to send off my first application. I would just like to know what anyone thinks my chances are at Stanford and other schools with these new updates!

Thanks!

I’m sure you’ll do fine. Better than me since I’m scrambling to get my stuff together for the Stanford SCEA deadline! Well, actually, I just have to fine tune most things and double check everything. But I’ll never kind of procrastinate again. Anyways, good luck.

Why did you not waive your rights to see your teacher recommendations? Not doing so is viewed negatively by colleges…

The fact that you are an asian male also doesn’t help

I did waive my rights to see my recommendations. My teachers chose to show me a copy regardless…

Also, thank you for informing me about something I can’t change. I’m sorry I’m an Asian American. Now what would you say I do about that…?

Anyway, I know being Asian will not help my chances. I guess I’m just going to give it my all and see how things turn out. Anyone else want to give a shot at my results in April? :)
