Danica McKellar.

Danica McKellar.

I don’t know who that is so I googled here.

I read her Wiki page and just thought she was another dumb actress

Then I read the math part and she seems really smart

The I clicked on google images and she seems less smart…

(yeah yeah I know double standards and what not)

Math majors are the smartest people ever

Someday, they will inherit the universe

Actually I’ve seen quite a few hot girls in my math classes haha

Since we are on the subject of smart attractive females, I say Ellen Muth. She was not a math major though, but rather a actress/model (Any other “Dead Like Me” fans?). I say the smart thing as she is a member of Intertel and Mensa.

This was really off topic, haha

Yes, that was part of the Beatitudes.

You ignorant engineers…

I used to think “how could anyone possibly want to be a math major?” But the fact is, not only are some of the smartest people ever math majors, a math major is one of the most versatile subjects you could possibly major in. With a math major, you could go into law, business, finance, computer science careers, cryptology (cracking codes for the govt), education, etc.

Prospective Physics major here

People always telling me “omg that’s so crazy/hard”
No dissing though…

Math majors are simply awesome people though

Its too bad a lot of people have no idea what upper pure math classes are about. Things like topology, abstract algebra, and differential geometry.

I can’t imagine myself being anything other than a math major, honestly. Nothing else even compares.

You actually tend to get the same responses when you say you’re a philosophy major.

I took one philosophy class and I hated it.

You must not be able to study anything real.

What an unfortunate waste of time.

Philosophy is incredibly boring and all you do is sit around and think.

People like to look down on other people, and they’ll use any stupid excuse.

^ Choice 1 is the one I give to every Philosophy major I meet.

And I took one Calculus class and hated it. But I don’t tell math majors they’re wasting their time. I suppose it just seems like people don’t realize that not everyone can or even wants to get a degree in math. I like philosophy, why should I get hostile responses for studying it? I guess I’m just saying I emphasize with the math major.

I think there’s a math professor that posts on Physics Forums that got a D when he first took Calculus and to this day isn’t a huge fan of it. But there’s more to math than Calculus. I’m sure you can say the same about most areas of Philosophy.

^empathize

Its too acceptable in our society to be bad at math. And I mean, too be REALLY bad at math.

Too common considering stuff like this happens.

[Medical researcher discovers integration, gets 75 citations An American Physics Student in England](Medical researcher discovers integration, gets 75 citations | An American Physics Student in England)

^ I saw that a couple months ago. I was just like … seriously? Seriously?

I do think that colleges should have higher math requirements for graduation, especially at my school. It seems unfair that every student here has to take nine quarters of reading/writing-heavy classes and only two quarters of math (which you can also place out of with AP credits). I dunno. Seems kind of unbalanced to me, and I’m a social sciences/humanities kid.

I think every major gets some stereotypical response from people.

Lol at my university, the hipsters are the math majors, even the physics guys show the respect. As someone who is doing both, I earn respect from both sides.
