That Pesky Extra Year of Language ~

I asked in the past, but I did not get many coherent questions, so I will present the question again ... If you are applying to HPYMS, should you take a language in 12th grade? This is especially important to me, because I would much rather take an extra science or history course instead of language...
Also, I will be taking AP language in 11th grade, so it's not even like i will not be taking an AP in language anyways..

any thoughts?

If that's your passion, go for it (assuming you have 3 years of a language).

well language is definitely not my passion (but i get what you mean) ... any other thoughts? i dont want to be screwed over ... :D

NO!!! Nobody will care! They are not going to reject or accept you based on a single year of foreign language or even a AP class for that matter. Why can't people get it into their thick skulls that the admissions process is judged by people, and not a super computer. They are going to gloss over your transcript like they did with 20,000 other applications, and look at your GPA, ECs, scores, and the whole nine yards before they start debating whether to reject you or not.

Course rigor and selection is too importantly regarded by people that don't understand the process. So don't do anything you don't have a passion for.

Gryffon, I understand completely that my application will not be reviewed by a "supercomputer". However, we (as in CC and I) should also note that some colleges "highly recommend" 4 years of consecutive language -- just wanted to know if any CC'ers dropped language in senior year and/or what people think ..
