"That test was so easy"

So, two examples:

Kid with a 2010. Takes the SAT again, brags about how he “understood every passage and nailed the math questions with time to spare”. He said the whole exam was easy. What’d he get on his second try? 1910. Across the board decrease.

Girl who has never taken the SAT. Takes a school prep course, claims that she “nails every practice question”. Takes the real test, says how “easy” it was, and comes back with a whopping 1750.

Kid with a 1910, 730 math. Brags about how he “100% sure about an 800 math”. Scores come in and he has a whopping 690.

Does this happen around you? Kids who take the test, think it’s “super easy” and score poorly?

I think people underestimate the SAT too much.

yeah i think that’s cause the SAT is designed into making ppl think they have the right answers (esp. math) where they have all the most common wrong answers too

i mean, 1910 isnt really a bad score.

i thought i got perfect on math. i didn’t. still don’t know what i did wrong.

Yeah, I thought I had done well…

Only got a 1950 x_x

yeah, in May I took it, after just doing some random prep book for about 4 weeks. I felt extremely confident and thought it was soooooooo easy…I got a 1870 LOL

thank God i have a 2270 now.

It’s weird, too. I thought the December '07 exam was tough as nails, but I wound up with a good score.

Maybe to do well on it, you must appreciate that the answers require some extended reasoning?

Yeah I think people do that alot.

I wasn’t really sure how I did after taking the test…wasn’t too confident though because there were some questions I weren’t sure about…especially on CR.

My friend was talking about how easy CR was…how the passages were soo easy and how the math questions were just stupid and a 2nd grader could do it. And then didn’t even break a 2000…he’s taking the ACT now in December…hahah

I was really confident that I broke the 2000 line from 1880. Then I looked at my score and saw… 1890 -_-

LOL I love people that do that.
Everyone at my school says that they nailed it. Then they get like a 1700 and still believe that that was “nailing it.” psshhh

I thought I was getting an 800 in math, but it turns out the area of a triangle is bh/2 not bh… lol

I find that on the SAT, you always do a bit worse than you think you did. So, I thought I got a 2300. Nope. 2230 (making a 2290 composite tho). it’s pretty rare that when people think they do really poorly, do really well – at least on the SAT. but that’s just how it is, in my experience :/

ya lol, in may,i thought i did really well, expected 1900+,ended up with a 1800, pfft i was so mad,and in oct… quite within my predictions cuz of consistent qas practice.
and nov… lol i thought i bombed sat2, predicted 780M,650 chinese,ended up with 800M2, 770 Chinese O.O
there’s another guy in my school that said nov sat1 was easy, he ended up getting pwned, and got about hte same score as he did in oct o.o

Really now?

Before OCT SAT, I predicted I would get a 800M,700W,600/650 CR
I ended up with 800M, 780W, 690CR.

o_o

The difference between me and the OP’s examples is that I have confidence while they have overconfidence.

Smart people don’t brag like that. ;)

I did much better than I thought I actually did.
I was kind of surprised actually, haha

Actually that’s true for higher scores too. I thought November test was sooooo easy. Never felt so good during the test.

I predicted 770/800/720 ish

Got 660/710/750

Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed (except for writing).

^wow…that sucks dude…
But then again, a 770 and a 660 is a huuge discrepancy O_O
Did you check the consolidated lists on here?..

I WAS LIKE HAHAHAHA MAN I OWNED IT AND THEN I GOT A 2360.

k

lol, this is so true!

first time taking sats:

i predicted 800 CR, 700 M, 800W (i felt REALLY good after the test lol)

results:660 CR, 620 M, 710 W

second time:

i predicted: 640 CR, 750 M, 660 W (i actually felt so bad about it i considered canceling)

results: 800 CR, 710 M, 800W

REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY? =P
