So, here it goes. I'm a senior applying to college. My original score was -

CR 660
M 760
W 750

I retook in October and got the following scores

CR 680
M 780
W 780

Now, what the hell am I supposed to do?! My CR score needed to improve, but I just couldn't get it to! Is it worth retaking in November, especially when I'm applying early?!

nope don’t retake because the Nov test is only 2 weeks away - are you confident that you can improve your CR score by at least 50 in 2 weeks? 2240 is still a good score… and as you would know some schools still require you to submit scores for all sittings…so if you’re not likely to make a huge improvement, i think you’re better off with focusing on carving up your essays :)

If the schools you apply to are superscoring, you might as well retake.

My son increased his CR from a 730 to an 800 with zero studying.

You are only a couple answers away from getting it up to a 700.

You don’t need to take math and writing again.

I am wondering if there is some way you can simply take the CR, and not even bother sitting through the other two sections of the exam, and take a zero on them.

However, if the schools you are applying to look at all the scores, then I would stand pat.

FIA, my son got 800 CR, 800 writing and 700 math on the last sitting. I wanted him to retake the math, because he really didn’t do much prep work for the test at all, but he wouldn’t do it. Some people might say that these scores are good enough, but I tend to agree with you that if you are applying to top schools with 10% acceptance rates, every little point helps.

I think U should retake in December, so u get more time.
u got 680 in CR, which means u’r only a couple of raw scores away from 750, so its quite likely that u’d score much higher next time
Good luck~
