Hell yeah. Im glad that places outside of USNews also think highly of northeastern.

This is based just on test scores? That’s a pretty poor proxy for “smart”. But there’s only so much I’ll complain, of course, when Northeastern comes out looking good.

Well the methodology for this list is pretty weak- I’d venture to guess that the actual median SAT score of every student on campus at HYP is more like 1550 and NEU’s is more like 1350 (putting it down with UofR and Brandeis).

This is just a simple average of the 25% and 75% SAT scores and there is pretty clear widespread manipulation of these numbers. In NEU’s case, Spring enrollment and a high % of international students probably increase both reported percentiles a bit vs peers with lower intl % and no spring enrollment.

Offering significant Merit aid is a legitimate way to increase the percentiles (since it results in “smarter” kids on campus I guess), but this list does put it in context- very few of the schools ranked higher on this list offer merit aid, and those that do offer far less.

I’d like to see NEU’s yield get up above 20% before we start declaring victory.
