the 2008-2009 pell grant blues

i hope that no one's efc goes above 4041. here's why:

"One of the eligibility criteria for a Federal Pell Grant is the student's expected family contribution (EFC). Within the past few days the law that sets the maximum EFC for a 2008-2009 Pell Grant was changed. We are in the process of making modifications to our systems to conform to that change. However, until that happens students with an EFC between 4042 and 4110 will not be eligible for a Pell Grant in 2008-2009 even though our processing system may indicate otherwise. Your school will be able to confirm your eligibility for a Pell Grant."

even i did not know that that the maximum efc was slashed 200 points from last year's maximum efc.

if your efc last year was around these figures, you might not be eligible for pell for 2008-2009.

i await the deluge of comments.

this might help?:

the maximum qualifying income level for the auto-zero EFC formula has been increased from $20,000 to $30,000.

true sueinphilly, but i feel sorry for those who just might be locked out of a pell grant if your efc is already in the "3900 or better" range this year.
