This whole process seemed to go really smoothly for me, but i'm a little confused with the rolling admission. I thought deferrals were only used for Early decision/action applicants. Can anybody who applied to UMich get deferred to early/mid april?

YES...and many have this year. Son's deferral came in over five months ago...still waiting for a final decision.

I HAVE A QUESTION: when should I check Wolverine access to see if there's that decision link, they said April 15th...I was deferred February 15th and my app was complete December 13th?
SECONDLY: What percent of ppl will be accepted from thegiant deferred pool?
THIRD: Do I have a chance with a 680CR, 620W, 540M SAT ie:1220/1840....Even with all the amazing extras I have and excellent grades and amazing everything else with a tough course load of 4 APs, 3 of them senior year, and more than 4 years of honors math and spanish, and all honors classes and awards and all that (I don't feel like listing it all b/c it is a lot) ARE THE SAT SCORES GONNA MAKE THE CUT THIS YEAR FROM THE DEFERRED POOL?
FOURTH: I sent them an oboe recording of myself, can they accept you as a non music major because they need to fill rare spots in their bands?
LET ME KNOW OF ANY OR ALL OF THESE ANSWERS THANKS!
ACCEPTED: UCONN
WAITLISTED: NORTHEASTERN, NOVA
DEFERRED: UMICH
REJECTED NOTRE DAME

P.S. This wait is killllling me at UMich, it is like my perfect fit school other than I'm OOS in NY I thought I had a good chance...I have an interest in environmental policy/law....or english, I suck at math and if possible want to avoid it altogether, but yeah so far I only out right got into my safety school, PLEASE TELL ME IF EVERYTHING ELSE WAS PERFECT....ARE MY SATs THE DECIDING FACTOR? thanks.

KM, what's your unweighed GPA like? What's your class rank? How are you doing on your AP classes? Did you take AP exams and how did you do on those? Is your high school familiar to Michigan (do you send many students to Michigan)? Your SAT is low for Michigan, but assuming everything else is strong, you have a chance.

My high school doesn't send students to UMich I don't know when the last kid was, its been many years. I took AP US History and got a 4 on the exam...but that grade wasn't on my application.
I Also took AP Spanish Literature,
AP English
AP Government/Pol.
HS credits for spanish and math in 8th grade
I took honors earth science, biology, and chemistry,
honors math 8th-11th grade,
Honors english 9-11th grade
College prep: Botany, Astronomy, Statistics
Art/music: I play first oboe in wind ensemble and orchestra, and I took studio art and drawing and painting classes 9-11th

I think my gpa unweigted is like a 3.7....I'm not sure does senior year count too?
I'm ranked 27/151 (but they don't recalculate rank to include any part of senior year which was my best year yet even though I'm taking 3 AP classes I think I have a 97 average).
I sent in an oboe recording, and my english teacher sadi my essays were really good, so I mean that's all I can think off the top of my head that were major things, that doesn't count all the little stuff in there.

Oh yeah I volunteered at the local library for 3 years, went on habitat for humanity for 3 years this summer, and also was in the school literary magazine, as well as judging the battle of the bands, and being crew on a play.

ACT 26...if you combined the subscores from both sittings it's a 27. Hopefully I'm not forgetting anything big.

I have had 90s in all 4 of my AP classes too. My only weakness is like 80s in honors math, and 80s in physics 11th grade, and 80s in honors chem. I also got a 99 on the us history regents, a 97 on the english regents, if colleges care about NY regents exams at all.

ahhhhhhhhh this is so sad, I really want to go here! My birthday is in april, hopefully I won't be receiving bad news, I know I'm borderline, but gees, they really get you thinking with a 3 month wait!

KMOin06--

Slow down...you're obsessing...take a deep breath. There are lots of kids in your situation...deferred...who have been waiting even longer than you have for a final decision. Really, no one knows the answers to your questions in terms of whether or not you will be admitted. You know you have somewhere to go next year...UConn, so you're just going to have to sit tight and wait it out like everyone else!

I guess maybe I could be obsessing, but hey this is only the rest of my life here, and i mean anyone who has to wait from December until April is probably going as crazy as I am. I guess whatever happens luckily i got in somewhere, I just wish Michigan's process wasn't so long and vague. This topic is after all "abuse".

My son has been deferred since late October and is not going crazy. At this point, it's been so long, I think he's all but forgotten about the place. Believe me, as an alum, I haven't been real impressed with what has become of Michigan's admissions, but referring to it as "abuse" is overkill.

Well for me I have a lot weighing on getting into Michigan, I can't go to some of my schools because they didn't give me any money, or because there was a waitlist until June, I guess the point is everyone's situation is different but if it is your top choice this can be a bit frustrating waiting as everyone around you in your class gets their college plans squared away. I'm not saying they are abusing me, I'm saying hey we're supposed to complain this thread is for complainers who are tired of this whole thing adn can't wait for it to be over next week.

Is anyone elso waiting who hasnt been deferred?

I have been deferred and applied in october also, I just read up on this thread, but I'm wondering if all the deferred applicants hear on April 15.
I called a few weeks ago and they told me that they will have my decision by the first week of April, which I thought was last week, but maybe it's this week.
Anyways, is it possible for me to get the decision by tomorrow?
I have to take a placement exam for my backup school, and I don't want to waste the time driving all the way up there....

i would take the placement exam if i were u, just incase cuz michigan is unpredictable!!

I am planning on taking it, but I really want to know if April 15 is the set time for all the deferred applicants to hear and no earlier than April 15.
Does anyone know???

No, I wouldn't be so hung up on a date. April 15th is a Saturday. I'm guessing they'll strive to have it all figured out on the 12th, so they can run the decisions on the 13th and have decisions out to apps on the 14th.

Easy E, i was not deferred and i have not heard yet...
