The Academic Decathlon

I was just wondering... Is it true that if you win the Academic Decathlon, a few schools will "look" for you (as in offer spots in their school)? If so, are the schools who do so top tier schools?

Sorry but "bump"

it might be true, but it won't be top tier schools that offer you a place. Ut'll be like Tulane or something like that.

As far as I know, schools definitely make it a point to look at you (especially if you are on the winning team). My school has won Aca Deca 5 times and I have known quite a few of the people on the team. They are all at excellent schools on scholarships, Stanford, Harvard, etc.

Hmm were any of your friends who have been accepted to those fantastic schools part of the B or even the C team?

I was in Academic Decathlon my junior year but have not really received any special attention from colleges just for that reason alone. I have gotten spam from many colleges for PSAT results and the like but not for participating on the AcDec team.

I know a girl who goes to my university. (top 20 school in eng. and business) she was on the c team 2 years. i was on the b team 1 semester

I'm not sure if AcDec does strictly on its own. Competitors just tend to be rather driven.

That said, I've heard of very positive college admissions results for some of the Decathletes I know.
