The Academies’ March Toward Mediocrity - Prof Fleming Op-Ed

The problem of the revenue and reputation generating football department dominating a school–even costing the school in hidden expenses and priorities–has been an issue for years.
My son applied to ND because 'everyone at his Jesuit school" wanted to go there… so we visited, and until he met the Navy ROTC officers–he was not driven by the status and tradition of ND–(I was embarrassed by his essay which refused to say what he needed to say). I was very impressed however by ND’s AMAZING ROTC unit and its leadership! The problem is the rest of ND does not respect the “military”
ROTCY guys and I witnessed slurs as such at a football game. Unfortunate. your son is better off at NA. Best of luck to him.
