But it seems like everyone applying is a shoe-in. One guy in my class is a super smart hispanic guy. I have no doubt that he will get it. Who else out there is like that?

I have nothing extraordinary that sticks out. That alone reduces my chances enormously, regardless of everything else good about me.

really a lot of the times your personal background and personality is way more important than your stats. it obviously showed in Columbia ED.... almost all of the kids that got in were sub-1500 scorers on the SAT. but they offered the college personality and i would guess gave the school a personality that perhaps some high stat kids cannot bring to the college.

that probably means that everyone was more qualified and that there were SO many perfect people they couldnt refuse. which means ouchies for me.

go to the columbia board. and click on the REJECTED stats section. 5 1500+s. and 1 1400+. Almost EVERYONE who got in had under a 1500 on the CC board.

i dont have any achievements that really differntitate me - no awards etc., i would have to hope that they see my passion and drive and other personal traits to at least defer me! but i guess ill prepare for rejection... 52% is a LOT of rejects
