Would it be okay to refer the application readers to the additional information section to see leadership positions and awards related to extracurricular activities? I mean, I can't fit everything into the space that CommonApp gives for each activity. Also, should I include hobbies and such, since some of them are related to technology and computers, since I'm applying to engineering schools?

Do not "refer" them to the additional info section. Write the important info succinctly in the space, and expand in the additional info, but don't "direct" them. They will read it if they want to - they know what's usually in the Additional Info section.

Yes, you can include hobbies as ECs.

So, I have numerous awards and placements and Robotics competitions. Should I just write a general statement: numerous awards and placements at competitions.

Should what you write in the additional info section be a list? Or more like an essay since they give you so much room?

You can also upload a document. I dont' think it should be an essay. That'll just tick them off.

No essay. Just a list of things that you couldn't put into the Activities section. Do not repeat stuff. And only explain things that need explanation. Secretary, Student Council doesn't need explanation.
