The Admitted Students Tour- Worth Taking?

I was just wondering whether it was worth it to take the admitted students tour?
From what they have said there's a tour of the campus, a media presentation, and a student panel to whom you can ask questions to.

SPECIFICALLY, Is there anything major thing in the media presentation and student panel that you would miss out on, if you decided JUST to take a self-guided tour, and nothing esle.

The reason I ask is because the only "all-inclusive" tour dates that are left are ones that I really don't want to go on.

I’m in the same situation. Answers would be greatly appreciated.

(Though, I would also be able to get into the College of Engineering’s no-reservations-needed Engineering tour)

Erm- I’m not really sure if this is at all relevant but I scheduled a visit this past summer for Urbana and what you wrote basically sounds like the gist of what happened. The tour may be similar if not the same thing.

We sat at the Alumni Center and viewed a media presentation and afterward a couple speakers took questions. There were a couple students present to answer general questions as well. Afterward we walked around campus and toured one of the dorms and then we were free to roam around. I’m not sure what else they may have at the admitted students tour. I later went on to meet with the Dean for the Business School and I think Engineering Students just have an extended tour. Not quite sure…

But in any case. I don’t think you will be missing TOO much but it’s always nice to visit.

When I was admitted 4 years ago I think I skipped the tour date. I had been here so many times for football games and such that I figured I had seen the campus and didn’t really need to see it again to help decide. Worked out fine for me. But if you haven’t actually seen the campus before, or only a little, then you should probably do it. And the media thing only lasted like 20 min when they used to do it, so assuming it didn’t change, it can’t really hurt to go to it.
