Which translation of The Aeneid do most HS students read?

Are you reading it for an English class as a piece of literature or are you reading it for a Latin class as a way to make your Latin translation easier (as I did :) )?

Penguin Classics has a really beautiful translation if it were for an English class because it conveys a lot of nuances, but I wouldn't recommend it for a Latin class exactly. I have yet to find a good straightforward translation of The Aeneid that sounds like an adept HS student translated it.

QuickLikeCat, It's on a list of "suggested" classic books HS students should read. I went to order it from Amazon and realized there were different translations available.

Then definitely Puffin Classics edition. It's beautifully translated.

Enjoy!

Thanks, QuickLikeCat :) :)
