So, I took and passed the math ALEKS but my email said, "Some of you will also be taking the ALEKS chemistry assessment later this summer." I'm going to orientation on the 15th and registering for CHEM 301. Do I need to take the chemistry test before the 15th or what?

I haven't taken Chemistry since 10th grade so what is on the test and what do I need to study?

The prep-ALEKS for Chem is different (unless they changed it again since this past Spring). It’s free, and your instructor will go over it once the class starts. You’ll have a deadline to complete the initial assessment by, and then another deadline to have worked on the topics in it to reach a certain percentage of items mastered. It’s part of your grade in Chem (in mine it was worth 5%, I think that’s universal across the chem dept) and while there were some advanced topics, it was mostly what you should know ahead of time but if you don’t it’s very helpful to work the topics inside and get more comfortable with it. Topics include naming compounds, scientific notation, converting SI units, some general math concepts, using the periodic table, etc.
