No. I'm talking about the band. I'm starting this thread for those, of course, including me, who got rejected to every single school they applied to. Waitlist counts too I guess.

So what are you guys up to?

Planning to reapply next year?
Applying to other schools as a late applicant?

I would love to hear your plans because I'm just really lost at this point LOL.

Hope this thread doesn't gain too much popularity considering its desired participants haha.

I was rejected at all four of the schools I applied to my first year, so don’t get discouraged. It’s all a part of the process. Pull yourself together and try again next year; next time, figure out what might have been your weakness and try to improve upon it. You may feel as though you have no hope left, but trust me, you have your entire high school career ahead of you and this is only the beginning. It’s clich

Jerry, Weren’t you the one that had an issue w/ a difficult english teacher? She may have had something to do w/ this. If that was the case, at least you will have a new teacher to support you through the process next yr.
Although I do believe there are some really good schools that have spots this yr for you.
PM me if you want a list of a few in NE. Hang in there, I remember your scores were good.

Raise Hand
I was wailisted at all five school I applied to, and it’s my second year applying.
I won’t be applying again next year. Maybe it’s fate. Maybe I wasn’t fit for boarding school anyways.

But for all of you, don’t give up! Apply again next year! There’s always hope! We do all stand on a common ground.

jerry…dangit lol. did you get priority waitlist anywhere?
and yeah, i’m an all CANADIAN reject! i’m disappointed at your lack of patriotism, jerryeps

Swampedwithwork put it beautifully- never give up if its your dream! Sometimes your fate is to be elsewhere, but either way you learn SO much through the process, not least of all that life can sometimes be VERY unfair. You will excel wherever you are - so smile and pull your shoulders back- this process does NOT define you!!

I got rejectedf by 4 out of the 5 schools … I am still waiting for a letter from deerfield, but looking at the other schools … im sure I got rejected. I will retry next year as rpeat freshamn considering that I am too young for my grade anyways (just turned 13) My biggest problem … and the thing that ruined my application were ssat … I had everything pretty good … I had good sports … good EC’s but my ssat (69%) screwed me over. I hope that all of you who did not get accepted that you keep trying, because only the week get blown down. The strong also get blown down … but they get back up ! Maybe it will work out for me next year … who knows …

No waitlist haha.
Thanks everyone. Maybe I’ll apply next year for grade 11 or repeat sophomore.

Yes. I did have a problem with my English teacher and could not get a proper rec in so that could be one of the setbacks.

@CK507
Good to hear all that effort paid off! Congratulations!

@flash9k
Dudeeeeeeeeeeeeee. The schools are American hence the name.

@ohxwowxlovely
I’m at no status to judge but i don’t think you should keep repeating. Leave out the fact that you are dropping a grade. It may increase your chances now, but think about when you apply to university; are the schols going to be appeased by the fact that you repeated both Junior and Sophomore year? Just my opinion. And I’m sorry too ;(

Don’t be discouraged if you aren’t going to one of the absolute best boarding schools in the nation. I wasn’t accepted to any of the prep schools I applied to, and I’m currently going to a large, okay-but-not-prestigious Catholic school. And yes, it’s not Andover or Exeter or Deerfield or Hotchkiss or any of those schools, but I made the best of my experience I had there. And because it was so big, there were still lots of offerings for advanced students, and there WERE a lot of advanced students, so it’s not like I was put in the worst school in America where I was surrounded by lots of unintelligent, unmotivated students.

I still got involved in my school and made a great experience out of it. I’ve played lots of sports (especially lacrosse), been a member of lots of nerdy activities and some cool ones, and been very successful both in the classroom and outside of the classroom. I got a 2310 on the SAT. I’ve been accepted to every school I’ve heard back from (1 safety LAC w/ full ride, 1 state school safety, and 2 schools with acceptance rates below 20%), and I’m waiting for 4 ivies and 2 other top schools.

Would I have had a better experience at another school? Will I get rejected from the last 6 schools because I was at an average school? I’ll never know. But I can’t look back, I can only look forward, and so far my high school experience has given me a bright future to look forward to.

So the moral of the story is to not be discouraged. I was furious when I didn’t get in to the schools I wanted to go to. But now, I am SO happy I went to the high school I did, and I absolutely loved all four years of it (I mean, as much as you can love high school, with all of its inevitable drama).

I’m applying as a sophomore and I need financial aid.
Accepted: tabor (no fa), KUA (unsure about the fa)
Declined: Exeter, Andover, Milton, Deerfield.
I really don’t know what went wrong.

Oh no i wouldnt be repeating both, I would do junior year at my public school and apply as a repeat junior for prep schools.
I just found out i was accepted at deerfield though so I guess nevermind.

And newenglandprep- don’t be discouraged. It’s good that at least you got in to two schools rather than none!

yeahhh i am not very serious about boarding schools and was rejected and waitlisted. but i think its how its suppose to be. if i just go to my current public school, i would have a much higher ranking and would probably have a BETTER chance to go to a good college.

just make sure whatever you are doing, that it works for you, whether its boarding school or public school or a private day school!

I applied for Freshman year last year to Andover. Got denied… and got really depressed.
For everyone discouraged from their outcome, try again next year!
I applied to four schools this year, Choate, Exeter, Andover, and Hotchkiss.
I ended up getting denied to Exeter (my last choice), Waitlisted for Hotchkiss and Andover, and Accepted to Choate. Definitely send in a music tape or something if you have a special talent. That definitely helped me. Just keep your head up high and try again next year!
