***** what are the big things i need to work on? **********

thanks you guys!

Your GPA and SAT are good. Your ECs shows that you are focused and have a passion whih is really good. Your community service also expresses your passion for Tae Kwon Do which is good. And it’s good that you have a lot of community service. Your awards (president’s student service award) helps. I think you should just work on your essay. You are going to be one of the competitive applications.
Good Luck!!!

Your GPA is good and the fact that you are ranked top 5% helps. However, I would advise you to raise the SAT. That 630 CR doesn’t look really pretty mainly because that’s not in the middle 50% at all. Your SAT Subjects are good. It’s good that you have a rigorous schedule because of the number of APs you took. I have to say, founding a tutoring clubs is actually a good thing (and I don’t say this a lot to people who start a club). The reason why is because colleges like to see people help others. And for one to start a tutoring club, it reveals that one has the passion to help others, especially their peers. Now I do have to say you don’t have much ECs and you ECs aren’t exact the most focused kind (What I mean is that your ECs don’t clearly and fully reveal a passion that you like to do). However, I do see from this that you like to volunteer (is that something you like to do?). I say that you have a good chance. By all means apply, if Duke is your first choice, then apply ED. Good Luck!!!

Duke’s policy is that you can either submit the SAT I + SAT Subject Tests OR simply the ACT (just as Penn does). IMO, your SAT Subject Tests are strong. I’d seriously consider submitting both your SAT and ACT scores, as your ACT >> SAT I. Yeapp :)

You are within range of Duke. Like I always say, I cannot give any more of a “chance” than that - it’s all a crapshoot. :/

Good luck!

(&wow, I never realized how many “Chance Me” posts are in here. LOL)

Actually she’s not. She is trying to get into Pratt. Pratt has a ACT range of 32-34 and the SAT range of M: 740, CR: 680 V: 670. All of which are higher than her’s

You are allowed to send in either. You don’t have to send in both.

I advise you to retake the SAT or ACT.

Meh, that’s 50%. She’s close enough with ~2100 SAT, leaving her in the bottom quartile. But you’re right, it’s always safe to be in, or more preferably, the 50% average. (32-34 ACT equates to a 2200-2300, right?)

Wait she has an 1820. That’s not really close to a 2100. Unfortunately that SAT also fall out of range with Trinity’s.
(Yes 32-34 is relatively around 2100-2300)
Her scores are:

thank you guys for chancing me
if i apply to the trinity college would my chances of getting in increase?
should i send in only my act score or also my sat scores (which include my subject tests)?

actually, i think the fact that you are a girl kind of helps if you are applying to pratt. you are obviously strong in math and weak in english, and you’re sat subject tests correspond more to pratt than to trinity (trinity recommends an sat subject test in a language, pratt recommends a science and a math). you seem to be strong in the math and sciences. being a girl is also a plus.

also, if applying to trinity, the problem with you’re ACT score is that you’re english score is low. the problem with applying to pratt is that you’re science is low.

you’re SAT I obviously shows you are stronger in math, and you’re SAT II’s show you are strong in math in science (you’re ACT kind of helps for math but not for science). so if you could retake your SAT I then you should send in your SAT I and both SAT II scores – it’d help for pratt.

*if you can get a 750+ for math SAT I and apply to pratt (because writing and reading aren’t as important when applying to pratt), you’d have good chances!
