The (Ambiguous) Additional Essay

I've got all my applications ready, but I've left the Harvard Additional Essay till now.
I don't know what to write about. I know that there is a list of possible topics, but.. meh.

I wrote a draft, but after reading through it, I wondered if it was at all appropriate.
The essay seemed more metaphysical than academic.
It didn't talk about any of my passions or achievements.
The essay was about how friends are important, and how the basis of life is the interaction of different individuals amongst each other.

What do you think? Is it appropriate? or should I change it to something that shows more flair and passion?

Does the essay add anything to your application?

Many students are accepted to Harvard without writing the optional essay. Sometimes, “less” is more.

The essay could either give you a big boost, or ruin your chances completely

I didn’t write mine. If you are going to repeat anything you’ve already said or write an essay that isn’t amazingly passionate, don’t write one. In this case, less is often more. Also, you’re topic sounds like you’re lecturing the admissions staff, DONT do that, ever.

Would someone be willing to read my essay?

Hey, I will! I literally just sent in my app 10 minutes ago. PM it to me if you’d like.

If u don’t feel good about the essay, possibility is that Adcom might feel the same. I second gibby here that , “sometimes less is more”…

And yes… Many students each year are accepted without submitting the additional essay prompt. Good Luck buddy…
