<p>I see this essay question come up more and more each day. To truthfully answer this question....I would say an essay with 500 to 550 is IDEAL. I have talked with admission counselors at UT at Austin, BC, and BU. They all said that they are looking for essays that are within one page and a half....which is around 550 words depending on your vocabulary. However, they did also say that they would look at an essay within 2 pages if they had grabbed their attention thought out the WHOLE surplus of a page and a half. This means that you guys should really make sure that your excessive diction is really worth it. Does this mean that some colleges, maybe even them, will not read essay if its over these limits? No. All that it means is that you need to be careful about what and how you write it. Please don't let me influence your essay if it doesn't fall within these limits and you believe that your essay satisfies your prompt thoroughly and to your needs. This is just to let you know of what I know....and is not to be taken as a final word. I hope this has helped some of you. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.</p>

<p>4 to 5 pages would be a def no in my books…however its your essay so you can do it if you want. Attention grabbers…it really depends in your topic…my topic is about my summer trip to Bangladesh…so I started out…“Streets full of dust, litter and beggars are characteristics of the place I would choose to spend my summer break at.” Back to your 4 to 5 pages…that is a def def no…sorry if I let you down on that but atleast its better for me to turn you down rather than an admission officer.</p>

<p>That’s cool that you are bengali also. As I started, if you think that yours should be longer…that’s your judgement and your call, after all it is your essay and not mine. But you asked for my opinion and my opinion is that it should be less that 2 pages. If you think about it…admission officers read countless essays per day and they dread, I would think, of they came across a 3 or 4 page essay. In my own experience…i trimmed my 842 word essay to 563. Now it is more concise and to the point and it leaves the reader hooked throughout the whole essay. As I stated before and now again…please do what feels right to you and you are comfortable with.</p>
