<p>Oliver Cromwell was the Puritan leader of England during the period of benign neglect. Hence, during this period, Puritan migration to the New World decreased a lot as they were happy where they were.</p>

<p>It was during the Cold War. The USSR formed a blockade seperating their western portion of Germany from the other sections. Also, since they controlled West Berlin, this meant that supplies could not go into US/British/French controlled East Berlin. Therefore, the US ordered an airlift of supplies over the blockade in order to hold the city. Eventually, the Soviets backed down.</p>
