<p>The Pullman Company lowered pay for employees and didn't lower the rents for company housing accordingly.</p>

<p>I have taken a couple practice tests and I hope people realize questions like these do not show up on the test. I've noticed knowing the chronology of events helps a lot more than knowing what the event actually was. It doesn't hurt to know these terms though.</p>

<p>Extended the Interstate Commerce Commission and provided pressure for railroad companies to demonstrate that they were setting reasonable rates. (Somehow I doubt this would be on the AP Exam).</p>

monopolies over industries (horizontal integration). Although economy flourishing, it was dominated by only a few companies. Hurt workers, didn't hurt the economy. Decreased competition for those companies.</p>

<p>The farmers were most prosperous during times of war because of the added demand from foreign countries, and least prosperous during recessions and directly after wars because of the unsold surplusses. The factory workers were happiest during the progressive era (1900-1920) working conditions were bettered and things like strikes and sit ins were a bit more tolerated than previously.
