Name a Penn professor with whom you would like to study or conduct research and explain why.

Hmmm...

I'm glad for everybody applying for '10 that 217 is still a prompt, that one rocks!

hmm, it says that freshman applicants should "immediately send form 1A and $70 to initiate an account"...is that really urgent? Or can I leave that till when I finish filling out the forms online?

Just do it online. Online > paper

how is one supposed to fill out the app online? i opened it in acrobat and i can't fill in the forms, only highlight portions and read them

that's because the links above the forms aren't activated yet, not until late August, I believe it says on there.

The new short prompts are interesting though more complicated.

Last year:

"Tell us something about yourself that is not readily apparent from your application."

"In your opinion, what was the most important moment in history and why?"

They were fairly straightforward.

"Tell us what you like to do for fun." is alright I suppose, though not quite as open as last year's short prompt.

" Name a Penn professor with whom you would like to study or conduct research and explain why." will actually require some sort of research. I guess they're trying to determine which applicants are especially serious about Penn.

" please submit page 217 ' , that makes NO SENSE, where is the autobiography?

oooooooooo i get it! its as if u wrote one, but u have to rip one page out

You are correct myopia.

thinkjose1 - did you get accepted to Penn?

Indeed. W'09.

On UPENN website it states Class of 2010 SAT requirement is undecided (new/old SAT) but you are encouraged to take the new SAT if you or a Class of 2010. Does anyone know whether the old SAT will be accepted by UPENN with SAT II writing(old) and two other SAT IIs?

I guess not, this is the official wording:

"We require the SAT I with writing and two SAT II: Subject Tests of the College Board or the ACT with writing."

is there an advantage applying online rather than through the paper app?

No admissions advantage. At least you know they got everything.

thinkjose1, since you say you got accepted into UPENN last year, can you do us a favor and maybe post your admission stats???

that would be great...

SAT: 1310

Hispanic, first generation

It certainly didn't hurt that my admissions rep. told me she was "BLOWN away" by my essays!

how long should the short essays be?

i think it says no more than one page

so they only want one teacher recommendation?
