When is the best time to get teacher recommendations? And what is the procedure? Should I submit a resume or list of activities when I ask? Later? Should I let the teacher know and let him/her write over the summer?? Please help!!! Thanks!!

Btw, if someone here could create a guide on navigating the application process, it would be much appreciated by everyone.

Ask teachers for recs ASAP, so that they have time to write good ones-but letting them know in September when you begin school should be plenty of notice (asking them over the summer is unnecessary- they probably wont want to write it then anyway). Procedure is simple, just get all the required forms and paperwork prepared, stamp and address an envelope, and politely ask them for a recoomendation. Be sure to let them know of the deadline and any other specifics. Submitting a resume is not absolutely necessary, but can't hurt, esepcially if the teacher's knowledge of you is limited to the classroom. Too tired right now to come up with a complete guide, but let me know if you have any more questions...I may not be an expert, but I survived :)
