For those who were deferred to NYU-Poly, don’t be discouraged:

You were probably deferred because you were one of two people with similar credentials. It’s still just as good.

It’s ranked above Harvard, Yale, Cornell and nearly every other Ivy league in terms of highest paid starting salaries for graduates.

It has just as many professors from Courant.

The tuition is lower and the financial aid is better.

You still get to take classes at NYU, study at the library at NYU, and do virtually the same exact things as an NYU study besides dorm in the NYU dorms. But that’s sort of a good thing, since the NYU-Poly dorms are nicer.

Finally, my admissions interviewer for NYU-Poly told me that NYU-Poly admits for this year will definitely be graduating with the rest of the NYU Class of 2015 in Washington Square.

^ that last comment is at least partially wrong, seeing how NYU commencements in Washington Square Park are cancelled indefinitely. Future graduating classes will graduate at Yankee stadium or some other venue.

@fhaselroth - yeah, I don’t actually know where they graduate, all I mean to say is that NYU-Poly students will graduate WITH all of NYU of 2015 in the same place at the same time, lol

and @karmic, basically either they request an interview with you or you request an interview with them. They’ll do it on the phone or in person!

It’ll definitely help you, it’s highly recommended. I don’t recommend requesting for one, but you’ll most likely get it anyway because of your credentials!

We’re like the redshirts of NYU I think, after all the people getting B.As at CAS don’t risk getting blown up working on a Gaussian Coilgun every week to my knowledge XD. My friend double majoring in Neuroscience and Psychology at CAS has a similar chemistry course to mine but differ in lab goals in that Poly’s labs tend lean towards realistic applications and situations. E.g: we synthesize common ester aromatics such as the wintergreen smell sometimes found in air fresheners as well as aspirin in the “General Chemistry for Engineers” course. Had a guy actually get K.O’d by the smell of the reacting acetones when making aspirin >.>

Yeah, honestly, to the people who got deferred (I originally applied directly into NYU-Poly) my interviewer literally told me that for this incoming class, NYU-Poly and NYU will be fully integrated like, halfway through our time at NYU-Poly, so even if you couldn’t get into CAS, you’re still going to a great school, you’ll have so much less debt than you would have had at NYU, and you are a RESPECTED NYU student currently (the NYU-Poly courses are intense and all employers consider NYU-Poly graduates to be like gods(esses)).

So, going to NYU-Poly is basically choosing to go to NYU’s Brooklyn campus, honestly. With better dorms. lol

i have a question
for the Poly reply form
if i filled that out, would i get enrolled in Poly
OR
r they going to send my application to Poly
and get another turn of reviewing
then, i’m going to get the decision and info about scholarship
and i have the right to accept/decline the decision?

Cause i’m afraid that if i filled that form out,
i would automatically get into Poly w/o knowing the amount of scholarship :l
