@lilmelonred: I got an 1800 on my first SAT and a 165 on my first PSAT.

Hey, fellow Asian here (living in Asia right now too, though I hold a US passport - it’s weird)

And yep it’s like it’s no easier for us to work hard than a Caucasian, but because we put in the effort to work harder we have to work even harder for even better grades. Huh? I think maybe we should have this all-Asians-around-the-world-aim-to-keep-their-sanity thing where we all don’t do crazy things like kill ourselves with 6 AP self-studies. Then if we all don’t, nobody will have to:PP

@lilmelonred Last year in eighth grade I took the PSAT without studying and I was all confident, sayin stuff like “Yeah, I can totally break 180. Let’s do this!” I got a 173.
lololol.

Is it sad that I’ve never taken a PSAT/SAT/ACT/anything like that? When did you guys first take the PSAT? My school offers PSAT in October of junior year, but I don’t know if we’re allowed to take it earlier, even if it’s just for practice. (I’m a sophomore this year, and we’re supposed to take the PLAN instead.)

LOL. Yeah guys, mines worst out of all of yours on my PSAT. Maybe i’m just not logical enough to take the SATs? I don’t know i’m terrible in taking test.

Self Study 6 AP’s? -cough- -cough-

I haven’t even taken the PSAT. xP I think we can only take it our sophomore year and I’m just a freshmen.

If one takes the PSAT his/her sophomore year, does that score count towards NMSQT, or does it have to be a score from junior year?

It has to be a score from junior year unless you are graduating earlier in junior year - the rules state that the score from the second to last year of high school for you will count and the others will not.

^Okay, thanks! I’ll see if my school administers the PSAT to sophomores, just as a practice run.

And I hate how being an Asian is a disadvantage.
^ INORITE?
I used to get scores in the 1500’s range all the time, and it made me feel SO bad.

And in the area I live, there are barely any Asians, and minorities are a majority here. I’m the only Asian in my grade and I’m the only Asian that I know (all of my cousins are either in college or Korea) aside from my family. My parents have stereotypical expectations as in they want me to go to Harvard and go to med school, but they aren’t as strict as most parents, they don’t help me with my homework, and I’m not a smart Asian. TBH I think it’s unfair that Asians are stereotyped during the app process, since not all Asians are geniuses with 2400’s and 4.0’s all around.

My mom hated studying and went to noraebangs all the time, and my dad hated school in general so he fell asleep in class and got a 2.0 one year. I have to study as much as anyone else to raise my score to the 2300’s on the SAT, and I have to work as hard as everyone else in my classes to maintain a 4.0. Y U ASIAN?

I’m still proud to be Korean though.

^They should. I took the PSAT as a frosh and soph just as practice for the real thing. ;p

I recognize that writing style.

Korean food is so, so yummy. I love it so much huskfdsdvddv?:;

Be proud for who you are and what you represent. Go Asians! xP lol.

The other day, I mentioned to my chem teacher that I am the biggest procrastinator on earth (which is completely true), and she asked me, “Are you sure you’re Asian?”

^Haha my math teacher makes Asian jokes a lot too. But she’s actually Asian lol.

Come to think of it, I don’t think my school has any Asian teachers. Although three of my teachers (both my math teachers and my history teacher) last year had Asian wives (LOL), and my history teacher would go on and on about how awesome Japan was (and how “bunk” China and Korea supposedly are).

Bunk? What in the world…

^I don’t know… he’s so obsessed with Japan…
