The Asian Thread

@elf4EVA Oh ok. I figured it was that but I wasn’t too sure. I love “It’s You”.

Lets talk about Asian ec’s. Made Aime.

How many pianists we got here? lolol violinists/cellists/floutists? All 4 + guitar?

I play the cello.
Haha, maybe we should also say how young/old we were when we started? Just to make it more stereotypical…

I started on the violin, at the age of 2.5 years. And then I quit at age 5, and started cello.

I’m super bad at timed math tests so I would never make AIME unless I used sorcery.

October PSAT:
76 math…

…59 CR. So Asian.

@Quidditchcat I started violin in 4th grade. I quit this year b/c my schedule conflicted and I couldn’t take Orchestra, but I’m joining again next year.

Only problem is that I never practice anymore. Last year I auditioned for my high school’s advanced (2nd highest) and got in (then had to quit), but I don’t think I can get in next year. I was pretty bad right before I quit, but now I just suck.

Piano from age 3.
Common Yakisoba
i got 800 math SAT
670 on reading.

@TinnyT I love that one too! Also the ballad version of Sorry Sorry

I started violin when I was 6 but dropped it b/c I hated it. I didn’t start another instrument until piano at age 11, and flute a few months after. I quit piano at 14 (I was never any good) but still play flute. Hoping to win my orchestra’s concerto competition…

I also got an 800 on the math portion of the SAT (sub-800 CR and writing like a stereotypical Asian) and MathII… Hoping to make AIME this coming year, although it probably won’t happen. I’m focusing more on USABO now.

Okay lol. Haha there’s a ton of Asians at my school, and all of them are like “I started piano at the age of three. yah, i still continue”. I swear, everyone plays piano at my school.

For my SAT scores, I’m… considerably less Asian.
My best scores per section were 800 writing, 780 CR, 700 math. and 740 on Math SAT II. Oh, the shame.

@quidditchcat I kinda wish I could defy the stereotypes like that (although that’s still a great SAT score). But alas, it wasn’t meant to be, and I’m still an Asian robot math nerd looking to go into bio/chem in the future…

My school’s predominately white, but there is one other stereotypical Asian girl, and people love to compare us and get our names mixed up >:( Although I think I’m more stereotypical b/c I’m better at math and she’s more artsy… but people don’t know the difference lol

Oh gosh i had Asian stereotypes especially with driving. I’m a great driver and have been driving for 2 years and my friends still won’t get off my back about it. However, people in my school (mostly white, 3% Asian) consider me a “Twinkie.” Event family does lol. I’m good at both math and writing, hate Chinese food (sick of it since I grew up eating it everyday), and don’t really do what the stereotype days haha

Typo…hate*

I’m really Asian…I’ve been playing piano for about ten years and I teach piano to about six students now. XD I only got a 780 on ML2 and 740 on SAT Math so I fail at being an Asian CCer… XD

My community is extremely Asian, all our schools are like 80 percent Asian it seems. Our city had the highest number of NMSFs in the county and the most competitive HS in our district had over 40 NMSFs. My community is ridiculously competitive.

I go to a charter school that’s about 5% Asian. XD

Whitest Asian here. Started music in 3rd grade - after all of you. 630 math SAT, 730 writing. Bad driver though

It seems I’m primarily bad at multiple choice math, but I’m definitely not a math whiz either.

I used to think I was a math whiz, until I realized I couldn’t even make AIME through the AMC10… I wouldn’t say I’m a terrible driver, but I am very slow. My friends always ask me why I drive like a grandma…

^ because you learned from her.

I actually learned from my (white) stepdad. So…

Yeah, I couldn’t even get over 20 on the AMC 8, which apparently my family thinks is considered mentally ■■■■■■■■, and after that, I suck at geometry so the AMC 10/12 were too hard for me.

Calculus is fun though. As long as the tests are all FR. I think the only reason I got a decent score on the AP test is because of the FR. I probably got like a 50% on the MC.

I don’t think anyone trusts me to drive, not even myself.

I unfortunately succumb to many Asian stereotypes. I am terrible driver who no one trust to drive. I also have an 800 on the sat math 1 and 2 with a five on the AP calc test. Somehow I sill have an accent when speaking English even though I cant speak any Asian languages. Im a guy and my mom is still taller than me who is also short.
